Its historic centre is full of narrow stone streets, small squares, traditional restaurants and wine bars, dominated by the impressive Rocca Aldobrandesca. The area is also renowned for its excellent wines and holds its own Suvereto DOCG appellation.

Castagneto Carducci is one of the places we definitely recommend visiting during your stay at Residence Girasole. This beautiful historic hilltop town is full of narrow streets, small squares, traditional houses, restaurants and terraces, all creating a wonderful and authentic Tuscan atmosphere.
One of its greatest attractions is the spectacular view towards the Etruscan Coast and the Mediterranean Sea. We especially recommend visiting in the late afternoon and staying for sunset – watching the sun disappear over the sea from Castagneto is an unforgettable experience.
Castagneto Carducci è uno dei luoghi che consigliamo assolutamente di visitare durante il soggiorno a Residence Girasole. Questo splendido borgo storico sulla collina, con le sue strette vie, le piccole piazze, le case tradizionali, i ristoranti e le terrazze, offre un’atmosfera toscana autentica e davvero speciale.
Una delle sue caratteristiche più belle è lo spettacolare panorama sulla Costa degli Etruschi e sul Mar Mediterraneo. Consigliamo in particolare una visita nel tardo pomeriggio e di fermarsi fino al tramonto – vedere il sole scendere sul mare da Castagneto è un’esperienza indimenticabile.

🚗 Parking Tip
We recommend parking at the lower part of the town near the football field and walking up into the historic centre. Parking further uphill and close to the centre is limited, and finding a free space is often a matter of luck.

Campiglia Marittima is one of the most charming medieval villages of the Val di Cornia, beautifully positioned on a hill between the Tuscan countryside and the sea. Its historic centre is enclosed by ancient walls and filled with narrow stone streets, small squares, traditional houses, artisan shops and local restaurants.
Above the village stands the Rocca di Campiglia, from where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Val di Cornia, the Etruscan Coast and the Tuscan Archipelago. On a clear day, the view can reach as far as northern Corsica.

Take your time and walk all the way up to the Rocca. Campiglia is not very large, but its narrow streets, little squares and panoramic viewpoints make it a wonderful place simply to wander around without a fixed plan. Late afternoon followed by dinner in the historic centre is probably the best way to experience it.
